Contact Tracing Privacy Statement

We take your privacy seriously. PAN [PrEPaccessNOW] is committed to ensuring the privacy of information relating to contact tracing.

What information do we capture?

We will ask for your preferred name(optional) and a contact phone number or an email address. Providing this information is entirely optional. We will also record the time and date you submitted your response.

Our contact tracing form is not connected in any way with ID systems, like Scantek, which some venues use for safety and security.

How will I be contacted?

Depending on the method of contact you provide you will receive a text message or email which reads

"This is a message from the Victorian Department of Health. You have potentially been exposed to a communicable disease. Please contact us via phone"

Who has access to my data?

The Monkeypox.org.au project committee is administered by PAN [PrEPaccessNOW Inc.] – Australia’s PrEP community advocacy and activist organisation. PAN will provide this information to the Victorian Department of Health contact tracing team only, and only if there is a confirmed case at the same time as your visit to the venue.

What will happen to my data?

The information you provide will be stored securely and then deleted after 28 days to ensure contact tracers can contact you in the event of a confirmed case. Your data will not be saved beyond 28 days, nor sold, or given to any third party.

What if I change my mind?

That’s fine! You can request your individual responses to be deleted at any time. You may do this by emailing ask@monkeypox.org.au

PAN’s Monkeypox team will confirm your data has been removed

This can only be completed if the relevant health authority (Victorian Department of Health) has not already requested that information for the purposes of contact tracing.

Why is PAN receiveing my data, and not the venue or the Government?

The Service Victoria app was used under the pandemic declaration for COVID-19 contact tracing. It is not possible to use the app for Monkeypox (MPX virus) contact tracing at this time.

To ensure our community has an opportunity to opt in to contact tracing, we have set up QR code forms at the request of the Department of Health and the venues.
